We had so many happy adventures together, I couldn't possibly list them all. Many involved scaling mountains or travelling to foreign countries, but often it was the little things that brought us joy, like getting up early to walk on the beach or cooking together.
Elaine seemed to know what I was thinking before I did. She could make me laugh when I was having a bad time and she lifted my spirits just by being there. Nothing was a crisis.
She would find the best in people. I remember once when she came back from walking the dog, having been out for an unusually long time. She told me she'd met a homeless teenager and got chatting to him. In the end she'd given him some advice about where to get help, £10 and her coat.
I loved the fact that she was appreciated by so many people. She was a truly beautiful person.
